Hello lovelies. I'm Kenny and I'm a lover of words, written and read, spoken and sung.
Apparently BookLikes is importing my books and reviews in a strange order and you are all being introduced to the very worst and most embarrassing of my reviews (some of which I do not agree with anymore). I apologise for that.
As you might notice, many of my so-called reviews are only a sentence or two. I tend to 'review' mentally and forget to type it all up, but often my response can be seen from the shelves I place the books on. I'm hoping as my books import my shelves will become clearer. Same with the ratings!
I'll have to explain my thought process when it comes to the rating scale I use in my head.
Thanks for putting up with the crazy.
With great shame and amusement,
Kenny
Ms Marchetta is brilliant as usual, reducing me to tears in the wee hours of the morning and scrambling for my copy of the next in the series, Quintana of Charyn.
The way Alina talks about the other female characters is irksome but I liked the book as a whole. (Despite the irritating and unnecessary problems with Mal and Alina. Lots of overdoing, I think.)But I'm a sucker and I enjoyed it and anxiously await the next!
This was a quick little read. Lots of fun for a lazy summer day! I would have loved it more back when I was 15, but still.
Honestly, Ms. Henderson is one of my favourite Christian authors and has been since I was a kid reading my mom's O'Malley books, but this one was a bit disappointing. It took me waaaay to long to read and I never really got into it the way I do with her other books. It's a bit slow.Even so I would gladly recommend many of her other books to people!
I'm so excited! I'm finally getting back into all my favourite Christian authors (after a break of reading a lot of general YA fiction) and a lot of them have new series' for me to get into! And since they're adults, writing books for adults, I'll be more in my age group.
I thought the series was done! Then, I haven't read the novellas yet. Time an all that.But...while I loved the first three books I'm afraid that this one might not be worth picking up. Not because it won't be brilliant, but because sometimes continuing a series can be pretty iffy. If it is promised to be the last though...Who am I kidding? I won't be able to resist reading this!
I hate when people change the covers after the first book already came out with a different one.Especially when the first book's cover was gorgeous and the new ones are very unattractive [in comparison].Honestly it's enough to make me happy I only borrowed the first one rather than buy it because, as with Nightshade by Andrea Cremer, the first cover will now no longer match the rest of the series. Plus, I'd rather have the lovely colours and patterns, etc. than a sexualized cover. I'm not attracted by covers with people posing. (Obviously with a few exceptions, but it's really disappointing to see beautiful covers replaced with covers that, while still attractive, are clearly not catering to the same audience.)Anyway, I'm still gonna read this. I loved the first one and have hopes for this one, but I won't be buying unless I fall in love. And even then I'll wait for paperback.*edit*Ah...maybe not. I don't like the synopsis. Pitting brother against brother in a little love triangle = no thanks.
